Big week for Lisa!

Lisa crosses a major fundraising threshold, and picks up 3 Big Endorsements….

Good morning everyone! Jenn, Lisa’s campaign manager here. I’ve been looking forward to writing this one all week because I’m so proud of “my candidate”, a  phrase I use frequently, ESPECIALLY when I want to be associated with greatness. You can’t fault me for this little bit of clout chasing - because maybe I don’t have to tell you, reader - campaigns are an ever changing challenge!

Thanks to our growing base of support, we sailed past the 250 Portland based donations last week (350-ish total) with time to spare. We're so looking forward to being certified to receive matching funds through the Portland Small Donor Elections program. And I can’t actually take credit - This was made possible by the strong efforts of Lisa to connect with Portlander's and earn their investment in her candidacy. As a later entry to the race, she had to average 2 donations a day all summer, while doing all the the other things candidates need to do. And she approached it like she does everything - with integrity and grit. Lisa believes in the strength of authentic human connections and honest communication. This is reflected in her decision to fund her campaign without reliance on social media advertising. As a new candidate without an existing network of donors, this is a feat. And as someone who has worked with this woman and considers her a serious ally to the progressive cause, I will say this with my whole chest: the person Lisa is as a candidate is the person Lisa will be as a council person. Capable, brilliant, and honest as the day is long.

This is just one of the milestones Lisa Freeman for Portland has met this week! She picked up three major endorsements, in a crowded field. They are:

  • Dr. Thuy Tran - State Representative, Oregon House District 45

  • Portland For All - People Powered Progressive Advocacy Group

  • Protec17 - 900 member strong union representing City of Portland employees, including Portland Street Response.

These endorsements underscore Lisa’s strong alignment with key values and priorities essential for the future Portland we all want to see. Her commitment to labor rights is at the core of her dedication to social justice and racial equity. Rep Thuy Tran’s support adds a crucial dimension, demonstrating that Lisa has earned the confidence of experienced leaders who recognize her potential. Collectively, These endorsements speak to the confidence and trust Lisa earns through connections with the community.

FUN EVENT ALERT: Saturday, August 17th

Our pal, and fellow candidate (2nd district) Sameer has taken the initiative and organized Play for Portland, a relaxed, recreational dodgeball tournament based on a simple yet meaningful idea: Our public spaces - parks, community centers, plazas, squares, and more - belong to all of us.
